The property world is so much more than bricks and mortar. Although we spend our days talking about buildings and all things related, we are a people business. We’re a friendly, approachable bunch and we love finding solutions for our clients.

You’ll find some information about us below and in our personal profiles, but we would much prefer to talk in person, so please do get in touch.

In April 2002 I joined the company as a director, having previously been employed as a management surveyor for a number of national retail companies. Initially mine was a mainly managerial role, but this has evolved to include valuation and agency work.

I undertake the professional work in the office which includes landlord and tenant issues, rating appeals, compensation claims and general property advice. I also head the valuation, agency and commercial management departments.

RJ is a great place to work. We have a friendly and hardworking team, a pleasant working environment and good clients.

In my spare time I like watching most sports.  Just watching though as I’m too old to take part. Cheering on Wales when they’re playing rugby is a particular pleasure.  I enjoy gardening and also having breaks away, both in this country and abroad and occasionally rugby related!

Having joined the company in 2003 as a graduate trainee surveyor, I have undertaken roles across the services we deliver to gain a varied experience prior to qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor.

Since qualifying, I have focused on valuation work, developing further specialist experience in this area and building our client base.  We work on commercial and residential property for a range of purposes which include secured lending purposes for lenders, general business needs for various businesses and disposal and acquisition advice for individuals, businesses, pension funds, charities and public sector organisations.

What I enjoy most is the variety of the places I visit and the clients that I deal with. It is always very satisfying when we are able to assist clients with achieving their particular property needs.

I have a busy home and family life outside of work and enjoy being active and getting outdoors: biking, walking, swimming and snowboarding when possible.

I head up the commercial agency side of the business, and work for all types of client looking to dispose of or acquire commercial premises. Clients range from individuals to large companies to trustees of churches and chapels.

I’ve been with RJ since March 2017 and the best part of the role is that each job is completely different. I could be in a small industrial unit one day and a Grade II listed church the next. Long standing clients are crucial to the company and we are more like friends with the clients than working for them.

A qualified Building Surveyor, I am currently working through the APC towards RICS membership (chartered status).

It’s great to live in Swansea at the moment as things in the centre and surrounding areas are being developed which is interesting to watch and be part of.

I spend a lot of my free time with my wife and two sons on our amazing local beaches or on the prom in Mumbles. I coach my son’s rugby team on a Sunday morning and I’m an Osprey’s supporter. I play touch rugby once a week and enjoy a round of golf when I get the time.

After working in the banking industry for 8 years, I joined RJ Chartered Surveyors in February 2019 as a Trainee Surveyor. I am currently studying towards a degree in Real Estate Management and once completed, will aim towards becoming chartered. Working with a great team and within a surveying practise gives me invaluable experience that will help me in my studies.

The customer relationship skills which I’ve already developed are going to be very important as working closely with and for clients is a key part of the job. We work for a very wide range of people and see many different sites and properties, from industrial units to luxury apartments to plots of land, which makes the job really interesting.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, a mix of sun holidays and short city breaks.

I joined RJ Chartered Surveyors in August 2008 having transferred from a similar role in a different company.

My role is to carry out the administration for the commercial side of the company, consisting of the Valuation & Survey, Professional and Agency departments. I am office based and always available to help in any way that I can.

When I am not at work I enjoy meeting friends and travelling whenever I get the chance.

As Finance Director, I am responsible for all financial matters for the practice. This involves all financial aspects of the residential and commercial properties we manage as well as the accounting for RJ Chartered Surveyors.

I passed my ACCA exams while working as a management accountant at Westbury Homes in Cardiff and took on the position of Director of Finance there before deciding to move back to Swansea in 2000 to join RJ Chartered Surveyors.  Originally working as the company’s accountant on a part-time basis, to suit my family commitments, I progressed to my current full-time role several years later.

There has always been a brilliant atmosphere in the office and I really appreciate that it is a friendly and compassionate company to work for.

I am an avid supporter of Liverpool football team and a big fan of Formula 1. With my children I have travelled widely to watch F1 racing, including trips to Monte Carlo and Monza. My favourite track is at Silverstone.

I joined RJ Chartered Surveyors in October 2019 as an assistant in the accounts department. This has been a change of career for me, having spent most of my time previously as a PE Teacher. Being able to use many transferable skills has enabled me in my day-to-day work regarding income and invoice payments. It has been an interesting and enjoyable learning curve moving into the property sector and to be able to join such a positive and friendly company has made that transition so much easier!

Outside of work I continue to follow my passion of trying to keep fit to enable me to continue to play hockey. This mainly involves running, weight training and coastal walks. I play hockey for a Cardiff based team called Howardian and have represented Wales in the Masters squads since 2013. This has taken me around the World, as well as playing the Home Nations of England, Ireland and Scotland and keeps me motivated whilst providing me with many memorable experiences!

I am proud to have started the original company in 1991 and to have worked with the other directors to grow it into the successful business it is today.

I love all things property and get huge pleasure from helping companies develop new or existing sites and premises and seeing what can be achieved.  For many years I was more involved in the agency side of the business, but more recently I have focused more on residential estate management, residential and commercial development and business development.

It’s a great business to work in; every day is different; every challenge is different and I find that variety very satisfying.

The best things about working and living in Swansea are the quality of life and the work/life balance.

In my free time I enjoy road cycling and mountain biking, as well as walking and traveling.

I have worked as Property Manager for RJ since May 2016.

In my day-to-day role, I liaise with a wide range of parties e.g. clients, leaseholders, freeholders and contractors to ensure our managed properties are well maintained and run efficiently. I visit our sites regularly to carry out inspections and to identify any repairs or maintenance needed.

My role also involves tendering for contracts to get the best service for the best price. I attend and deliver managing agent reports in Resident Management Board meetings, AGM’s and EGM’s.

It’s a busy job and varied (never a dull moment!) which I thrive on.  I have always been in a customer facing role and pride myself in providing a first-class customer service.

My passion is to keep fit.  I attend fitness classes and meet up with a group of friends to go for a run.

I have a puppy and my husband and I enjoy taking her on adventures to the beach or finding new circular walks in Gower.

Building Surveyor & Project Manager

I work mainly for our property management clients investigating defects, planning longer term maintenance and overseeing the larger repair and refurbishment projects. The work is varied and covers a vast range of buildings types from modern purpose-built apartments to historic Grade II and II* developments. Everyday there is always something new.

The projects that we manage also give huge amounts of job satisfaction. To overcome the challenges that these buildings inevitably throw up along the way and to deliver the best outcome for the client is immensely rewarding, but seeing the buildings improve and listening to all the positive comments from the occupiers is why I come to work.

Swansea is without doubt the friendliest place I have ever experienced and blessed by the fact that you are never far away from beautiful places to walk or great places to eat.

I love to travel and experience the variety that makes the world interesting, especially the food! I also seem to be accumulating ageing Land Rovers which take a up my time, mainly time trying to convince my wife that they are collectable and why I could possibly need five…. I am looking forward to one day using one to go traveling in and seeing how much of the world it can take us to.

Having started working for RJ Chartered Surveyors in March 2018, I quickly realized that this is a very friendly company to work for.  Everyone gets on in the office and I’ve had lots of support from the team as I have settled into my role as Property Manager.

The focus of my work is to ensure that each property is well-managed, and that day to day issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently.  I meet and brief contractors when needed, check the quality of work done and am the main point of contact for owners of the properties I look after.

I have lived in Glasgow and London, but I have a much better quality of life here in Swansea. It’s a small city with beautiful beaches and lots of things to do.

I like to think that I have lots of spare time, but I don’t! When I do have time, I enjoy cycling and try to get at least 50-100 miles in per month over the summer period.

For many years I was a teacher and Deputy Head teacher at a Junior School where teamwork and dedication were key to improving standards and ensuring progression. Theses are skills and attitudes that I believe cross careers to ensure success.

Following my decision to change career and lifestyle, I have taken time to reflect and fulfil new and old passions, working for myself as well as others. I have always had a passion for all things property, having worked in Sales at Estate Agents both before and after my teaching career.

I joined RJ Chartered Surveyors in early 2021 and I feel very lucky to have become part of such a friendly and dedicated team where each day brings a new and interesting challenge in a great atmosphere where everyone feels valued.

I joined RJ in November 2020 as Residential Management Administrator after 17 years working as Business Support for the National Trust on Gower, and I’m delighted to have been welcomed in to such a friendly team.

Having previously worked in property management, albeit in the tourism industry, I’m well aware of how busy and challenging the workload can be, dealing with maintenance issues and other queries which come in on a daily basis. But at the same time its very rewarding and I enjoy the fact that no two days are the same.

We are lucky to have an amazing coastline on our doorstep, and when I‘m not working I enjoy cycling and walking.  Cycling abroad is also a hobby of mine, which I try to do at least once each year, either as a cycling holiday or as part of a charity bike ride.
